Q: UserManager can't add a new user. E.g., when trying to select a domain for a new user, a panel shows up with the following message:\
\
NetInfo Failure, Unable to open connection to NetInfo Domain <
\i chosen domain
\i0 >,\
error was 'No such directory'. The user can't be added to the chosen domain\
as the correct domain can't be selected.\
\
What's going on?\
\
A: UserManager implicitly relies on the existence of NetInfo directories
\b users
\b0 ,
\b groups
\b0 , and
\b aliases
\b0 . They are created by NetManager for the
\b network
\b0 domain or are there by default for the
\b local
\b0 domain. However, if a custom multi-level NetInfo hierarchy is built, the directories might not necessarily be there. If any of those three directories is missing, UserManager won't be able to open the domain and thus can't add the new user.\
\
Workaround is:\
\
1. Launch NetInfoManager.\
2. Open the appropriate domain.\
3. Create a new subdirectory of the root, using the
\b New Subdirectory
\b0 item in the
\b Directory
\b0 submenu.\
(
\b New Subdirectory
\b0 is an item
of the
\b Domain
\b0 submenu in 2.0)\
4. Double click on the newly created Subdirectory labled
\b NewValue
\b0 .\
5. Change the value of the
\b name
\b0 property to that of the missing directory missing. Repeat for any\
other missing directories.\
\
You should now be able to open the appropriate domain for creating a new user in UserManager.\
